We bill either
for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or per year. If you opt for

per year option you will receive a 10% discount. We accept MasterCard,
Visa on a month to month basis only. You will be automatically

Personal and business checks are accepted for 3, 6 and 1 year
terms
(Check's are cleared through the bank first before payment is deemed

Where should I register my new domain?
We will use whichever
service you prefer. However, we typically do use GoDaddy
when we register new domains. NSI costs $35.00 per year.
Who is InterNIC?
The InterNIC is
an independent organization responsible for holding the registration
and routing of Internet domain names. Basically, they tell your PC
where the sites are on the Internet.

What does it cost to
transfer the domain name with InterNIC?
There is no fee
for transferring your domain to us, from us or InterNIC. There are
many domain registration sites now, and we have heard of some that
are charging a fee to do a update to your information.
Is there any additional
charge for data transferred per month, or hits?
Yes, however, we
offer large usage allowance for the different hosting plan sizes.
If your site is very busy, we will discuss your options at that time.
ALL sites have a transfer monitor in the control panel so you can
see where you are compared to what your hosting plan allows. Should
you go over your allowed transfer rate for the month, the fee is $8
per gigabyte.
Do
you offer technical support to customers?
Yes. We encourage
our customers in need of assistance to send e-mail to info@cdsmedia.com
with questions or concerns about their web site. However, we provide
technical support only. We cannot provide help with HTML syntax
or
CGI programming problems. For this sort of problem, we need to refer
you to various newsgroups and on-line manuals. Most questions can
be answered by checking the example page which we supply with each
plug-in we provide.

What is a virtual domain?
A Virtual Domain
means having your own domain (http://www.your-name.com) without having
to install expensive server hardware and software. With a Virtual
Domain, you utilize our server's storage space, however, you are still
professionally represented via your own personal Internet web address
domain name (www.yourname.com) and by your own personal e-mail address
domain name (you@yourname.com).
What is a SUB domain?
A sub domain is
a web site that is hosted on our domain names, but with your company
name also visible. It looks like this: www.yourname.cdsmedia.com/pagename
or www.yourcompany.1-sh.com .
There is NO Internic
fees for this, and we now offer any hosting plan size on a sub domain
site. The only difference is the look of the URL, and no Internic
registration fee.

What steps do I need
to take to setup a virtual domain at CDS Media?
Simply sign-up
with us by filling out a our online
order form. We will then assist you in transferring an existing
domain or registering for a new domain to be placed on our servers.
How long does it take
to setup my account?
Space will be made
available the same business day! , Most of the time, within a half
hour or two at most!
Once an account is setup an activation notice will be sent to you
via e-mail including your user-ID, password, and your IP address.

Do you support Macintosh
systems?
Absolutely!
You can use Fetch, Transit (recommended) or various other programs
to transfer files from your MAC to our system. You can also use Telnet
and the POP e-mail programs like Eudora, Outlook Express, Claris E-mail
and Netscape Mail. Much of what we do is done on a Mac!
Are your servers connected
24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
Yes.
They are always connected and always monitored. It's a high-tech and
high security environment, with hospital level cleanliness, with its
own uninterrupted power supplies. 24-7 / 365 system support and monitoring.
What web server software
do you use?
We use Unix servers
, Running Lynux and Apache server software.

What do Auto responders
do?
An auto responder
will send an e-mail back to whom ever e-mail's that address, a prewritten
e-mail from you. This can just say thank you we received your e-mail,
or it can be any number of things, like instructions, lessons, information,
etc...
Each email account
you have with us, can have an auto responder used with it!
What programs can be
used to access e-mail (pine, elm, Netscape mail, etc.)?
All POP clients
can be used-- any program which downloads the files from our server
onto your computer. These include, Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape
mail, Eudora, Windows messaging, or almost any other email browser
type software.
You can use mail
user agents which run on our servers (such as pine), with a special
configuration. You can not use IMAP programs.

Can I access my domain
address with or without the "www"?
Yes, you will be
able to access the domain address with or without the "www" in front
of the domain name.
The exception is
a sub.domain. If you host your domain with us, you can get to your
site with or without the www. in front of your name. If you have a
sub domain like this:
http://www.your-domain.1-sh.com
, then you must use the www. In the domain name or it will not work.
What is an email alias?
An e-mail alias
means if you send mail to anything@your-domain.com , that address
is aliased to whomever needs to receive it. It can be one person or
multiple people, however you need it structured.

many email aliases can I have?
Unlimited!
Do you have a database
system? Cold Fusion? mSQL? Other?
We use MySQL. If
you need cold fusion, you currently need an NT server. We use only
UNIX servers. They are better in many ways, for serving our customers.
Do you have FTP and
FTP Anonymous access?
Yes, we provide
both FTP and FTP Anonymous access.

Do you have a limit
on the FTP transfer?
No. There is no
limit. You can update your pages an unlimited amount of times, at
any time you wish.
Do you use Netscape's
SSL technology?
We use Apache SSL
which is several times more secure than Netscape SSL.
How many client sites
are put on each web server?
The number of sites
per machine differs by machine size, and traffic.
We do move clients according to demand. We keep the peak CPU load
below 50% on all machines.

Does each virtual server
have its own log files?
Yes. You have your
own log files. They are accessed through your control panel.
Do you provide a CGI-BIN
personal directory?
Yes, a CGI-BIN
is provided in every site. We also have some system wide cgi scripts
you can use, as well as a growing list you can download for your own
bin, or links to places that have them.
What is CGI access?
CGI scripts (Common
Gateway Interface) are used to provide things like counters, email
form responses, guest books, and many other things.
CDS Media gives
you full CGI access for no extra charge! You can write your own scripts,
install someone else's, or use one of our pre installed CGI scripts,
like formmail, and pgpmail, and the counters with date and time.

Perl, C+, Python, and Java are all supported and available.
How can I manage my
e-mail (add/remove/update)?
To add or delete
POP boxes (e-mail addresses) , use your Mail Manager;

Do you charge additional
fees for hosting a secure web site?
No, Our customers
if they wish, can have a completely secure site, using our certificate,
or they may install their own at their site.

Sites?
No. This is not
a moral judgment. It is a business decision. We can not afford to
take this type of business risk. If you are unsure if your site is
considered an "adult" site, by our standards, please contact us.
May I promote my host,
web site with bulk email?
NO !
Spamming is in violation of
our service agreement. There are legal and ethical issues involved
in mass mailing of unsolicited email. Any user of our services who
has sent a large number of unsolicited email will have their account
closed within 24 hours! Without a refund!!!
Unsolicited is defined, by
CDS Media as: Mass e-mail sent to recipients who have not asked to
be contacted by you. Usenet postings, for the sole purpose of promoting
a commercial website, that are cross-posted to more than three newsgroups
and/or posted in newsgroups where this is against that groups FAQ
or charter.
